Marcello Degni, consigliere of the Court of Accounts, has become involved in a controversy for using strong words against the 2024 Budget. The Court of Accounts has announced that it will urgently examine the issue and evaluate Degni’s behavior. In the incriminated post published on social media, Degni stated: “We could have made them foam at the mouth over the so-called protected budget.” The post was published on December 30, 2023 on a social network. Degni mentioned Elly Scheil and Mario Ricciardi in his post. The reactions to the Degni case were immediate, with members of the majority parties criticizing his extreme positions. Lucio Malan, president of the senators of Brothers of Italy, expressed concern that Degni, as a member of the Court of Accounts, takes positions contrary to the interests of Italy. Maurizio Gasparri, leader of Forza Italia in the Senate, called Degni’s post a “delirium.” Claudio Borghi, senator of the League, demanded Degni’s immediate expulsion for “clear unworthiness.” The Court of Accounts announced that the issue will be urgently addressed in the next meeting of the Board of Presidents.
